A Card Game about personalities. Note that it is far from complete, time ended up being a bit hectic and a lot of things couldn't be implemented, balanced or finished. But managed to wrap it up for LOWREZJAM! And I hope the idea itself comes accross. :)

Tutorial:

The Overworld map contains points where you meet people you have to engage with, after winning each engagement you go to the next point until you reach the end.

During an engagement you play cards against your opponent. There are 2 types of cards: Elements and Aspects. Aspects have ATK and DEF skills as well as a preferred Element (shown as the background of the card), which adds +1 to the skill being used (if you're attacking you get +1 to ATK, if you're defending you get +1 to DEF). The goal if to outmatch the opponent's card's DEF with your card's ATK. And when able attack the opponent directly to reduce his hitpoints to 0. You play cards by clicking them and placing them onto the board. To attack you simply click a placed Aspect.

When you win an engagement you will also be rewarded new cards that will help you later. You can manage your Deck from the Overworld via the Deck Manager. Simply select the 2 cards you want to swap then click the swap button.

Hey !

Your game is in my top 5 honorable mentions.

I want to congratulate you again for making this very interesting game. I would love to play a more complete version, or see it in another game as a mini game !

I am working on a more complete version. Slightly higher rez, much larger world (with route choices), meaningful card collection, "spell" cards and a not-totally-broken-and-exploitable gameplay. I'll definitely be sure to let you know, probably on Discord, when I have something more playable. :)

That's great to hear ! Good luck with the development.

Congratulations on making this game !

I've played your game during a live that you can watch here :

The live is timestamped so you can go directly to your game.

I hope the feedback and live reactions will be useful to you. Keep it up !

I like this idea its very original. Your UI is nice and readable for 64x64.
I think I got stuck in the first battle. I didnt know I was still attacking, so maybe a sound effect or animation every time you click your card to attack would help tell the player the attack went through or not.
The mechanics are very original and interesting and I think this game could be really cool on a non-64x64 resolution!

Thank you.

Yeah there was meant to be an animation, including stats + bonuses that would apply to that particular fight. IRL stuff got in the way so I only just managed to fill out content for the game and get the story in. Sadly I didn't expect the first battle to be such a hurdle so most of that may go unseen.

And yeah I really wanna finish it up properly on a slightly wider resolution. :)
