I want to congratulate you again for making this very interesting game. I would love to play a more complete version, or see it in another game as a mini game !
I am working on a more complete version. Slightly higher rez, much larger world (with route choices), meaningful card collection, "spell" cards and a not-totally-broken-and-exploitable gameplay. I'll definitely be sure to let you know, probably on Discord, when I have something more playable. :)
I like this idea its very original. Your UI is nice and readable for 64x64. I think I got stuck in the first battle. I didnt know I was still attacking, so maybe a sound effect or animation every time you click your card to attack would help tell the player the attack went through or not. The mechanics are very original and interesting and I think this game could be really cool on a non-64x64 resolution!
Yeah there was meant to be an animation, including stats + bonuses that would apply to that particular fight. IRL stuff got in the way so I only just managed to fill out content for the game and get the story in. Sadly I didn't expect the first battle to be such a hurdle so most of that may go unseen.
And yeah I really wanna finish it up properly on a slightly wider resolution. :)
